As a professional dancer Melissa always sought alternative ways to stay in shape and rehabilitate dance related injuries.  She soon developed a love for the anatomy of movement with a particular interest in the role joint biomechanics had on improving not only one’s athletic performance, but also activities of daily living.  Melissa began her fitness career in 1995 as a Certified Personal Trainer. She soon began sharing her passion for dance and fitness with a diverse clientele at some of NYC’s leading health clubs.  She attended the prestigious Kane School of Core Integration, which is known for its intensive Pilates curriculum and concentration in core muscle anatomy. Melissa studied under the watchful eye of Kelly Kane, who she considers an inspiration to this day.  At present Melissa maintains a private clientele, training in home and at private facilities where she helps men and women of all ages and physical histories enjoy a better life through exercise. She is on staff at the Westside YMCA as a Pilates Instructor, Group Exercise Teacher and Personal Trainer. Melissa also serves as facilitator and instructor for the West Side YMCA LIVESTRONG Cancer Exercise Program. For the past 18 years Melissa has taught “Pilates on the Pier” for Summer on the Hudson, as part of the NYC Parks Department’s health and wellness programming.
Melissa has lectured and been a guest presenter at Marymount Manhattan College, Touro College and Dominican University. She holds a B.A. from New York University.
